Hi Thomas, it's marked on the catch side with the RZM and M4/39.

I agree with Thomas - a perfectly fine HJ by Assmann.

The "double ring" RZM logo with the Assmann M4 code.

Seen with and without the Assmann A logo.

Finally got my buckle in hand and I'm slightly worried about it being authentic even after the positive feedback I initially got. The pin ends are what worries me the most, having been told to beware of these shaped types. The M4/39 marking is also slightly different from others I have looked at. The rest of the buckle really looks good. Please put my mind at ease, either way. If bad I want to send it back immediately. Thanks guys.

i am not getting the warm fuzzies on this buckle,,i dont like the markings, the prong shape and the stamping of the insignia looks too shallow,,compared to the other examples of this maker that was posted,,,

Relax - it is Romeo y Julieta and single malt time.

In my opinion, the Assmann HJ that you have posted is perfectly correct. The stamped markings are fine to my eye and there is certainly nothing wrong with the obverse.

Compare the tool markings (horizontal scars) on the pin shroud of our buckles and also, the pin top and the pin bottom - identical.

What I think is making you a tad nervous is the Assmann employment of what I suspect are Overhoff claws, which is a documented feature.

100% original in my opinion and by the way Tom, up until the time of this response - I have never seen this buckle faked.

    Regards,

    David
