These are known late war Assmann buckle Chad, thats why I suspect your HJ is late war or last ditch made HJ buckle, seems to be same maker! When Rudi eventually reads this thread (he is working in France at mo) he will have his input, his Luftewaffe collection is probably second to none

Hi Ben,
The Luft buckle is indeed a late war Assmann buckle.
They are never marked and of course without a tab after 42.
The nice detail of the early eagle has gone, due to over-production.
They could be found in a more green than blue color (nothing to do with HG or paratroopers or tropical versions).
So be sure an Assmann.
ps.Belgian made buckles are becoming very rare.
Take care
Rudi
Hey Rudi, many thanks mucker you are a star
Ben
Chaps, this is a marked Assmann Luft for comparison

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread, I think we have shown that with little doubt the unmarked HJ shown are Assmann! now if we could only answer why Assmann would change their design and not mark the buckles!!
thanks
Chad
So, should everyone be comfartable with the add of the buckle in the first post to this thread below?:
