    I am going to use and stick this thread to look into the early crank catch Lufwaffe buckles and maybe even establish makers to different types of buckles. If you have any or have any observations please chime in, this is a forum effort to try and crack these

    To kick off these are crank buckles taken from the forum, this first one is a good start in the fact that it is a known maker, Richard Seiper, please note look at the eagle on the obverse of the buckle, the open beak and what I call a cap on the eagles head. (note on this buckle the catch has been distorted and stretched due to wear)

    unknown maker (the tab is marked JC Maedicke 1941 so not for this buckle added at some point?

    Another unmarked crank Luft buckle, with this one however look at the prongs, early aluminium buckle with steel prongs. With the prongs see how they are reversed, very typical of early Assmann buckles, Also look at the crank catch itself and compare it to the known original Assmann one so could we say this buckle is Assmann made?
