Love these unfinished buckles... Why is the reverse of the eagle not defined if it's die struck???? What do you think happened to the smooth areas on the pebbled field on the front, you think this was a reject?
Not often seen.
Judging by the shear line grip mark at the catch end, it would appear that this is the first blank off the coil and is very often of an uneven thickness. This part of the material is always rejected, as is the part that is a seam welded joint, to increase the length of material on the coil.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
