Unfortunately both buckles are reproductions.

This manufacture about what the period?
Hard to say. But I would guess the 70's on the first and the 80's on the 2nd pattern. They made corrections on some of the earlier production error. Maybe somene elsre can add to this as I am not that sure on these dates.

IMO the second buckle is original

Ivan,
I beg to differ. You just have to look at th fold over edges on the back rim of the buckle. They are sloppy and uneven plus some other issues that I do not feel I should expand on at this time. The buckjle is still a repro IMO.

Hello I thought the second buckle might be original. Here is a couple of officers buckles in my collection. The edges are a lot nicer than the second buckle but far from perfect. I will have to look at some old threads.
I must admit chaps my thoughts were fake for the first one and original for the second.

Kirby, I guess the 2nd one is open for further discussion. With that said, on your buckles the one on the left on the brocade is good. The one on the right has a sloppy crimp as well but not as bad as the one at the start of this thread but it still bothers me. These are later produced buckles so matbe they got a bit careless in the crimping.
