    Hi Guys,

I just got a couple of new items today.
The East German helmet is dated II/12/60.
There was another one with the same date but it's liner was very dirty so I left it.
I was hoping to find an M56 with a 50's date, but I will keep looking.
While I was at it I got another NVA visor - 1989.
Now I have 2 of both for my sons. It's only fair.

A West German Visor and Cap came with the NVA Visor.
Can someone please tell me about them?
One is 1979 and the other 1963.

    Cheers,

    Danger

    Hello Danger,

    Lovely helmet, great pick up!

The west German field cap seems to be for police, and the West German visor cap appears to be for Zoll (Customs).

    Hi Joel,

    Thanks mate.
Is there a difference between airport customs and land border customs visors?
I like the look of the police field cap, hope it fits my head but I doubt it.

    Danger,
I don't think so, at least I've never seen a BRD visor for an airport customs official.

    Hi Rene,

That's a bonus! Top quality I'm sure, and is a nice touch.

You're South African? My last name is Afrikaans - Mostert.
My Granddad is South African, my Dad is Welsh, and I'm a kiwi. Then my Son's are half Chinese.
It's a family tradition to take a foreign bride.

I also spotted the made in East Germany stamp for U.S import. Must've been shipped in the early 90's?
Wonder if it was ever issued?

    Cheers,

    Hi Guys,

I hope everyone is well and keeping safe during the lock down?
I finally received these items after waiting 5 months.
I won't be using that auction house again. It was an absolute fight to get a reply from them and then.... long story.

Anyway, here's some extra photos of the helmet.
It's got the soldiers name and the straps are back to front (for comfort perhaps?) with the extra bits sewn on the wrong side or the solider was left handed?
There's a number on the liner too.

Stay safe everyone, and stay sane in your bunkers!

    Cheers,

    Danger
