“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
This Generalforstmeister ensemble just sold for EUR 670.00 (Approximately US $789.90)
The visor itself is a legit DDR Forestry visor, but IMO, it had the silver officer wreath and cords replaced post cold-war:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Late-cold war LsK Genl posing as an M-62:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
They are now reproducing these--this one is being sold as a repro:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
Now here's an interesting fake. A 1970 (M) EM/NCO visor with officer's cord that has a TR-era customs wreath attached to it, and a green band on top of the original dark gray one! Seller is trying to pass it out as a 50s-60s NVA officer's visor. Maybe it was trying to be a fake Nazi cap at some point?

Another obvious fake. This one is dated 1977 (A), and someone has painted over the white piping, trying to make it look like signals visor from 1956-1962. The cockade and the cord do not match if this is supposed to be an officer's cap. You can notice two holes on the crown, indicating that a Nazi eagle was once attached there. Sadly this type of manipulation has been the fate of many DDR caps!

That is outrageous!
It's hard to imagine somebody thinking he could get away with that but as we know there is a good chance of the uninformed buying it!
Late pattern hat with early Waffenfarbe, Berufsoldat quality material with enlisted badge (which would be correct only in Berlin) and officers chinstrap. Not even a good attempt. Ridiculous!
It reinforces the principle that one should always purchase from the position of knowledge. Sadly some shark has actually ruined a basic collectible albeit one of low value and turned it into a piece of trash.
Good to see though that the auction has only minutes to run and no bids!
No doubt it will be re-listed

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
Very true, they were the stuff of tourist souvenirs. However, now the early patterns are getting close to TR values which must be a pre-cursor for the late patterns albeit their ceiling will be lower for longer.
Most of us never really thought there would be a profit in the humble British and Commonwealth MkII helmet. Not to mention the HSAT which only a few short years ago could be had for less than £50! Need I say more?
