The serial number is 2799, regarding the produced quanity, here they say, it might be around 2800.

The serial numbers of the "KM 87" in my collection:

No. 0985, (scabbard marked with "W in circle" )
No. 1249 ("T in circle"),
No. 1290 ("W in circle"),
No. 2130 ("W in circle").

P.S.:
as far as I know, 3.500 units were manufactured, but only a few were issued in the NVA for trial purposes

Here it goes, serial number 2799, there is "1" in circle mark in the tip of the scabbard, i was looking for the mentioned "T"and "W" mark, but could not find it.

First one I have seen does at first glance look like DDR AKM but the difference is quite apparent. I saw a lot of surplus DDR NVA in the 80 early 90:s when it was sold but never have seen this type of survival knife. Nice find timothy

So now we have a 2799, I spoke with some friends today, everyone of them agrees on the 3000 maximum produced piece, but of course , there is no evidence available yet.
What does "1" in circle mean?

Reibert....some great additions to your fighting knife collection ! Good to see the forces of the DDR were issued with a knife/bayonet.....Over the other side of the wall the BW never got issued bayonets, and I believe their fighting knife was a private purchase piece, is that correct ?
