Hungarian "Cold War" Collection 1945 - 1990

Article about: It's the same cotton-filled material which the Red Army introduced in WW2 (Telogreika), which was excellent against the cold - and possibly was more fire-poof... QUOTE=Scout;937204]Nice find

M1970 canteen - all in different shades of green and brown - all unmarked. Again, the grey painted is for Hungarian Workers' Militia (Munkásőrség)

Fabe, thanks to you, I finally found out who owns the Hungarian gray canteens 70M. I have a small question:
Green canteens - army, grey canteens - Munkásőrség, - how owned "sand -colored" canteens? (left)

Hey- THX. I think that's army as well...maybe for troops served in Afganistan and the middle-east. As far as I know, this canteen is discontinued since the late 1990s/early 2000s.

Here is this M70 canteen from my collection with rare M87 tri-color "rába" camo cover and the M93 four-color woodland camo (the current uniform of the Hungarian army - but I just heard, soon all the uniforms are going to be re-designed!)

Fabe, Could you tell me in what period of time was used Hungarian messkit "65 M KATONAI CSAJKA"?
The Hungarian army only this model has been used since 1965? Here is a pot I had in mind:

These are called 1950M messkit - which was based on a Soviet messkit - which was based on a German messkit
The one on the photo was probably made in the 1970s - 80s - but the design stayed the same.

I just took these quick photos of my M50 messkits - I have 4 in total - they all have "H.R. 950 and 953" markings - meaning they were made in 1950 and 1953. The newly made ones (like on the photo you've posted) are unmarked.

Also took shots of the M50 canteens (I have around 10 of these) - Some are marked (1950 and 1964) some are not:

Left to right: unpainted one - painted green - smaller one (maybe medical?) - unpainted with felt cover (some of these were imported to the Yugoslavian army in the 60s I think)

    Cheers,
    Fabe

The cotton-filled tank-driver's M1949 set arrived yesterday - looks great! Un-issued, and one size larger than my other one...just some very light streak of fading near the seams, where they were folded in storage in the last 70 years. Quite happy now, that I have both versions of this set (1949-1956).

Blue shoulder epaulet: used between 1949-1954 - dated 1952
Black shoulder epaulet: used between 1954-1956 - dated 1955 on coat / 1956 on pants

I threw on a "Rákosi era" (probably M1950) belt and two different types of TT holsters from the 1950s...

PS: bottom photo set's coat is NOT buttoned in, that's why they're showing.

James - I have 2 of these ( one could say early version - with 3 "sausages" on top ) winter soft helmets - they're as far as I know, Hungarian made but could be also Czechoslovakian import(?) - probably based on Soviet design. I don't have a pre-1956 helmet, I've yet to see one for sale - mine have 1963 & 1965 dates.
These 3 sausages versions were used in the T-34 and T-55 tanks - later on, by the time the T-72 tanks were introduced, the helmets had 4 sausages on top. I think.
These 4 sausage versions are used even in till' this day...

    Hi, Fabe!

if I may, I would like to ask another canteen question. On the 50M canteens often found such an abbreviation "BZ" (instead of the more usual "HR")
Maybe you know what it means?

    Thanks,
