Hungarian "Cold War" Collection 1945 - 1990

New item - I'm picking this up on Monday in Budapest:

Police man's long coat (officers/Captain, with gold buttons) - rare 1956 made, but actually made a bit earlier - on the collars you can still see the old "Rákosi regime" (1949-1956) Hungarian national crest buttons, the rest is post 1956 "Kádár regime" buttons.

Probably made between 1949 - 1956 - I'll see it for sure in person - there should ink-stampings inside the inner pockets with size and manufac. date.

Looks to be in nice condition. (price around 30 EU)

Here is a rare one I think...
"Rákosi Era 1949-1956" 'BM' or 'Belügyminisztérium' (ministry of the interior) pilotka style hat.
It was not a good sign to see one of these pilotkas in person...
'BM' and 'ÁVH' (ministry of the interior and secret police) soilders were feared as much as the SS and GESTAPO (actually, former members of GESTAPO trained these units) - and during the 1956 revolution these guys were either lynched or hanged (on lamp posts) by the public, in turn; most of these uniforms were destroyed by the owners themselves to avoid public execution.

This one is almost unissued condition, manufactured in 1952, size 57, with nice factory stampings - not a good photo that one

"The ÁVH in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956

During the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, elements of the insurgents tracked down and killed both known and suspected ÁVH officers and informants. When the Revolution began, a crowd of some thousand people attacked the police headquarters in Budapest, shouting slogans as "tear down the star!" and "free the prisoners!", referring to the enormous red star that stood on the building's roof, a symbol of communism and to the many prisoners kept inside. Fearing for the lives of both himself and his officers, the chief of the police let the crowd into the building, allowing them to take any political prisoners they wanted.
During and after the siege of the Hungarian Working People's Party headquarters (in Republic Square, Köztársaság tér), some members of the ÁVH were lynched, a fact later extensively used in party propaganda to back up the claim that the revolution was of a "fascistic, anti-Semitic and reactionary" nature."

That's a stunning coat Fabe ! some nice militaria being shown here..."Cold War" militaria from either side of the Iron Curtain should be collected and preserved for future generations of collectors and historians...at this moment in time it is a bargain hunters paradise out there, catch them while they are, because the time will come..................

hey Everyone,

some new items that I got recently:
1954M boots for "moutain troops" and winter camo troops (with skis) - as you can see the skis attach to the boots. fairly small 38 size (EU).
very pleased with this one. a rare item, with nice ink stamps inside, and in very good condition for an item made in 1954. also came with its own factory "bootlast"!
(last 2 photos from a great uniform book /hungarian army 1945-1956/ - on the photo, the right sided trooper wearing one - in the book, the boots are worst condition than mine
price was: 4999 HUN Forints = 15 USD

Wow! What a find just now, this morning...

Unissued 1949M Hungarian Tanker's winter tunic (more like a jacket) and matching pants set!
I was sort of low on cash already this month, but I had to snap this up! Not an everyday item in this condition...

Tunic has nice "1955" manufactura inks stamps, the pants "1956". Between 1949 and 1954, tank crews had "sky-blue" epaulets - after 1954: black epaulets. (Like on this)

The price was 23000 HUFt. = 100 USD for the set.

Also attached a photo from the already mentioned book - this tank-driver has the 1949M tunic and pants (with blue epaulets), 49M tank helmet and 49M tankers gloves + a sidearm of Hungarian made "clone TT" pistol.

PS: Sadly, the Hungarian tankers helmet and gloves I own are both M1962 - so now I have find M49 ones...not an easy task! The "beauty" of collecing

I assume the quilted material is primarily fire retardant more so than for keeping warm?
