I assume the quilted material is primarily fire retardant more so than for keeping warm?[/QUOTE]

Hi - newest pick-ups:
- 1949M (actually, this could be a WW2 1944M type with later date stamps) Camoflage Zeltbahn - like new condition - with an official "H.R. 1950" inkstap + the owners name initials "NY and ZS" and the actual address of the army base: Eger (city) Keleti LakT. (Army Base East) Hadnagy u. 32 (Street address) - I've checked, there is no army base there any longer...
All starps, strings, and zelt-buttons are still there.
Pics (sorry, I live in a small flat:
- 1949M Back-pack - also is very good condition with all leather straps still intact (rare to find them like this, usually there is some strap missing)
Nice H.R. 1952(?) inkstamps and various other numbers in pockets, etc.
- 1949/1982 unissued Camoflage Zeltbahn - probably made in the early-mid 1980s - "This style of camo is is based on the 1949 reworking of the WW2 camo pattern of 1944. The camo pattern on this particular zelt, was the longest lived and most common of all of the Hungarian camo patterns. The original Model 1949 camo pattern was reworked and reissued in 1982. It was used from 1982 until 2000. It was used by the Hungarian Army, Air Force Ground Crews, Border Guards, and the Police Counter-Terrorist Unit."
