What, about tombak badges being substituted for gold ones ?

You mean my 'theory' could be correct ? ! ? !
I do not think it is a theory,I think it did happen I got it from a vet.
I do not know about the tombak badges?

    Well, sometimes you win............ !

Maybe this is why some of these tombak badges look so glossy........
They've been used as 'gold' ones !

Maybe this is why the rumor started about the 'early versions' being hollow ! !

    Food for thought.............

What is Tombak, is it a gold colored metal? I have a #88 black badge, and now wanted to get a silver and gold for display together. I think all three look great together.
They want $125 for this "Tombak" badge, and it is advertised as a Gold wound badge. Too much then, if not a Gold badge. I will keep watching and looking an learning.

    Thanks, Regards, Steve

Tombak is an alloy and for all intents and purposes is basically brass.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade, nice to see you. Thanks, that answers that question. $125 is too much for this right?

That is far too much. All it is a stripped black wound badge.

    Cheers, Ade.
