    Hi all,

Recently I accuired this very nice wound badge that has been attributed to Deschler. For some reason it was marked ”10” rather than exspected ”L10”, ”L/10” or ”1”. I would like to get more information about his special badge, especially why it was marked ”10”.

    Thanks
    /Jonas

    Hello Gents
The bow looks different to what you would normally see on these badges & the wreath looks
strangely flattened. I have an interest in these variants & have never seen one like like this
    before.

This is a known variant, I have seen tombak Deschler design swb with that hardware before, although I am not sure its really a Deschler. This is a common hardware used by several makers, mostly from Pforzcheim.
The "10" mark is a fake stamp IMO to raise the value, as you said a L/10 or 1 would be the correct form.

Thanks all for the comments on this badge. For me it is still unclear if it is genuine or not, both the badge and the maker mark. For the reference I bought this from a much respected dealer in Germany, so maybe I could get some comments from them.

    Hello Jonas
I really like the patina & appearance of this badge. What really throws me is the almost one
dimensional appearance of the bow & wreath, totally at odds with other Deschler/ Wiedmann
types that I have seen. The "10" mark is certainly unusual, but shows a patina that is consistent
with the rest of the badge. If I could personally be more certain, I would have pounced on this
badge without a second thought if it was offered to me.

The helmet design looks very off.

    Hello Morris
Have a look a around. this is the helmet design that you will find on a Deschler/Wiedmann variant!

Perhaps you might research a bit before flying off half-cocked.
