Verwundetenabzeichen black real or no real?

This looks nice. How come some black wound badges have this pin and others have the wider one? Which one came first??

I'm not sure the thickness of the pin is related to a timeline but more likely to do with the individual manufacturers.

How do you date them? Ie. early war or late war....the absence of a maker mark?

I don't know how it works with Verwundetenabzeichen but with EKs, unmarked pieces are earlier - before 1942 - so it may be the same for these badges.

Which awards in particular? An all encompassing book would be a very large one but there are many dealing with specific areas. And of course there is always the forum.....

Ha good point they did like their awards and badges!..the book would be a 2 man lift.
