could it be a 1914 badge with a swaz stamped in later? i dont know if there is a big difference between the two badges but looking at other examples of this badge the swaz's look a lot smoother?
Hm... it possible that the "circle" around the swastika is from heating the material?
And the swastika is also a little lower than in other badges i could find, and the catch is unusually high.
Hello Jezocoh yes the quick search i did on other examples showed the swaz being further away from the rivets of the helmet, also yes ive just noticed that circle you mention. As for the catch i couldnt comment.
Hopefully Adrian spots this thread
I am interested to hear what the story is with this interesting badge
Hi
It looks fine to me. I have its "brother".
Compare the pin and the front and they are a compleate match. The circle in my opinion is just wear.
Cameron
hehe.. brothers indeed
i got it from my car mechanic
he said that it was given to his grandfather from retreating German officer for some food and water back in 1945 on the retreating route of general Alexander Lohr troops.
Looks fine to me. I like these badges.
Cheers, Ade.
