You are correct about the Verwundetenabzeichen being no good. L/40 does not appear in any listing of known manufacturers.
These particular badges appear on certain less than reputable internet auction sites quite regularly, often displaying various
differences in reverse hardware. I believe the glider badges are also heavily faked but I can't really comment on these.

Brett is absolutely correct. L/40 was not given to any manufacturer of TR decorations so therefore, any decoration bearing this number must be regarded as fake.

These L/40 fakes have been kicking around for years. They should all be in the bin by now

These L/40 fakes have been kicking around for years. They should all be in the bin by now

I have seen that these L/40 badges are still produced as reproductions, both gold, silver and black. They all look the same except the color. So I guess that we will see them more in the future.
