Verwundetenabzeichen im Schwarz

Hello folks.

Another wound badge for the collection, bought during Espenlaub Militaria's anniversary sale. This one was considerably cheaper than the others on sale, perhaps due to the near complete loss of finish on the obverse side. Personally, I quite like the look of these early brass badges when they have been worn to this extent.

This one is very much a combat worn example. As already mentioned, most of the obverse finish is gone, and there is excessive wear to some of the high points. There is dirt around the inner edge, which may have been there since the original owner wore it in the field. The helmet profile is a slightly different shape to most of my other badges. Perhaps a maker variation, though this badge is unmarked.

Overall, a very rough badge. Not one for the perfectionists out there, but a perfectly 'honest' example!
