Re: Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz... Real or Fake?
I note an interesting 'deformed leaf' on the wreath directly to the right of the rear of the helmet brim. Perhaps this is indicative of a particular maker?

I've never seen a deformed leaf quite like this before. Thanks for pointing it out Glen.

Re: Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz... Real or Fake?
I notice this has no rivet on the back of the helmet which proves my point it doesnt mean a fake badge

Thanks Gents!
I'm very pleased to hear that it's an original piece.
Cheers,

Re: Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz... Real or Fake?
Any further thoughts on this one? I'm backtracking on my original thought the more I look at it. The shape of the helmet skirt at the back is giving me concern.

Re: Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz... Real or Fake?
Hello Adrian
If this badge was offered to me I would have to pass. The bow, the curvature of the helmet dome & the angle of the rear skirt just do
not look right to me.

Re: Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz... Real or Fake?
i've been looking at this one since yesterday. i don't want to come out and say i think it's a repro or i've matched it with a known fake. i don't want to say that at all.
but i personally am not comfortable with it. StugIII makes a point that i have noticed from the beginning. in fact, to my eye, the bow of the ribbon looks odd as well... like it rises too high above the wreath on the left. the details are odd. Also, as Brett points out, the angle where the helmet dome meets the rear skirt is too acute.
Also the pommels... those little buttons on the very end of the sword hilts... these look more pronounced here than is familiar to me. they are pretty fat.
maybe this is a BWB known to me and my memory is just not clicking here. i'm just having trouble reconciling it.
i will leave the "issue" of the rear helmet bolt out. i know this is controversial so i will not comment on it here.
there are plenty of BWBs out there. this one i just don't see the reason for holding.
maybe someone can come along and give me more confidence in it.
