    Default Verwundetenabzeichen vs Verwundetenabzeichen.....

I just received my new wound badge from an on-line auction and suspect it to be a fake. The badge on the left is authentic since it was given to me by a German vet who fought in Russia.....but the one on the right....not so sure. They both have "30" on them but the one on the right is a little thinner and the clasp looks different. What do you think?

Some '30' marked badges with thick pins are an original variation,
but I'm not sure about this one.........

You can actually see traces of gold around the helmet and on the pin.

Yes, I looked at it more closely and did indeed see some traces of gold. So was $30 a reasonable price? I was hoping I did not get suckered once again.

Here is what I'm used to seeing on a large-pin '30' marked badge.
Leads me to believe the one above on the right is fake.........

    Hi,
The right badge is unfortunately a fake IMO . The Hauptmünzamt badges show traces of “year rings”, like on a tree, on the back side. Look at the one on the left where these rings clearly can be seen, but not on the right badge. Also, check Steve´s link to the gold Hauptmünzamt badge. This badge also shows these rings.

So if you can spot these rings on a Hauptmünzamt badge it is definitely an original badge.

Original black grade badges go for between $30-$60. Silver grade approximately
$70-$150, and gold grade usually $300 and up. I've also noticed an increase
in price for wound badges lately from certain dealers.
    It pays to study.........

You need to contact the seller for a refund.
    Regards,

    Steve.
