VWA Gold: Authentic or not?

Some people say that the Gold wound badges came in black cases with a push button catch, and that the Silvers came in a maroon case with no push button...

doesn't look like there's a button on his at all. Here's a SWB I have in its case with a button. Don't know if they're a mated pair since production and being issued but its the way I got them.
