Nice early F&R badge (4.2.1. type), the first type they made, distinguishable by the lack of the upper left oakleaf die flaw, the low maker mark with the 'I' of Reif directly above the 'T' of Stuttgart and the softly scooped out back. These were coated in high quality Brennlack coating, hence the amazing amount of finish left on this groundug example. Nice piece that saw action.

    Regards, Ned.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'

In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.

    Hello Don

Great find. The IAB is a purported FCL example that used to have a block hinge and "?" style catch hardware.

    Best Regards, fischer
