Wow u really like souval huh? The PAB has both distinct flaw marks which are correct for this maker. The IAB also looks good. But Im no good when it comes to ek1s, only 2nd classes for me unfortunately. Let me know if you are interested in knowing the flaw marks
here are the Flaws known on PABs for this maker. It is scary tho, because the fakers know this and some fakes have been found with attempted flaw marks. Also, some fake PABs have been found to have these flaw marks and NOT have the RS makers mark....so you know its a fake. Only RS PABs shoudl have this to my knowledge.
Here is where the flaws are on RS PABs.
I would say all of them are good. They all compare favourably with known wartime examples and I don't see anything that would put me off.
Wait for a few more opinions from some of the other guys who are more knowledgable and who specialise in these awards but I say they all stand a very good chance.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I'd say the IAB is a standard 2.01 Souval as identified by Weber, if necessary a closeup of the 'R' in the RS on the reverse will help but i'm sure this one is a good later war example.
thanks guys for your answers. the guy that i purchased these from came from his grandfather who was in ww2.because they are all the same maker i am assuming they were removed from the same panzerman.sounds good anyway.thanks again also panzer 1031 thanks for showing the flaw marks leraned something new. there was one other pieace that i got will post soon.thanks again
Very nice. So the EK turned out to be good too. Whata good score. Those flaws are a good thing to look for on the Souval PABs. There is also another flaw underneath the catch. But again, the fakers know this and try to copy the flaws, so it can be tricky. Im still learning about PABs myself, and find them a little harder to spot than IABs. Hope to see your other piece when u get it
yea !!! finally have something that is orignal period items.when its all said and done on the tally of my collection. (i wish i knew then what i know now would have done somethings diferently ) hope im not to upside down. definetly made up a little ground on these, got the lot of 4 for more than a fair price.thanks again deadeye thanks again
That isn't necessarily the case, it depends which badges were available at the time of being awarded. For one man to have won three awards and been given them all from the same maker isn't impossible but it is quite an improbable coincidence, the awards might have been given out years apart.
