Whether it is zinc pest or not, I still think putting on some Vaseline would be a good idea. I usually do that to all my zinc badges.
I read that some people put on Mineral oil instead of Vaseline, with the same result?

Maybe I'll try that out tomorrow. I'm soaking a super rusty relic SS buckle in white vinegar right now. It's rough!

For me it's not zinc pest. So i wouldn't put it through the trauma of a vaseline bath. Not that it should hurt it,but if it doesn't need it don't introduce it until you think this is the last option to "arrest the pest" problem. Stewy
