That is the standard Heer/Waffen SS issue. Note the Heer style eagle with down swept wings as opposed to the Luftwaffe eagle with outspread wings.
Cheers, Ade.

How would one know if it is a prototype?
Just look at the poor quality: any prototype would be well executed. Bear in mind most awards had to go before Hitler for approval.
Cheers, Ade.

Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
If a possible prototype were to surface it would at least need to have reverse hardware that matched known factory examples. They would not have been likely to make a brand new set up different from their other awards that they already produced.
Apart from this one never actually being made, the FIRST red flag to all suspect badges is the "softness" of the detailing - badges were always made by established firms and attention to detail was / is always a hallmark of the German craftsmen / women and detailing was 'sharp'.
Quality = yes ....... sloppiness = NO ....THEN look at hinges/ pins etc....

You guys are amazing....bet you have been doing this for years! I plan to learn alot from all of you.
A couple more points that are valid here are:
1. The badge is marked L/50 for the maker Godet. Godet never maufactured a Luftwaffe badge of any kind, so if you see one it is 100% guaranteed fake.
2. The eagle that has been nailed onto this badge is a well known fake piece that is found on bogus Rudolf Karneth Luftwaffe badges.

I don't know that Godet made a combat badge of any description did they?
