how would you restore those? ......
Faults are recreated with epoxy's.And masked with water base solutions.
..and is it worthy of your hard effort?......
...I am not doing it for the money ( if thise is what you mean !?), it a hobby. I am doing it to use the left overs (instead of trowing it away!!Those materials are rather expensive!) I use for my customers. And it is a good exercise.
...i just love salty stuff......
At any momment it can be brought back to hise original "salty " condition , by a professional restaurer, with out dammaging the item.

im very interested to see your results on the real bad one, please post when finished,,, or if your happy to do so step by step. best of luck
I'll do so! I do thise anyway to document the item in question.
You can already get an idea, on the threath I mentioned before, some of the WH buckels are in different stages of restauration. Some have to be re-done, because of faults in the restauration.

Hi Stuka f
I really don't like the whole restoring part of our hobby. It's yust messing with historical items. Also I would like to see a very good close-up from the catch of the second PKS...

Hello Nick
Sorry we do not agree on thise matter. But it is a thing you will have to deal with. I am sure I am not the only one doing so, and it would be better it got accepted, because now some "restaurations" are being done to upgrade items in order to fool people. And when I say "restauration "....most of the time it is messed up because of people welding or carving on to the originals. As I said before a perfect restauration must be able to be undone at any time whitout dammaging the original (by a profesional!! not by the collector!!)...mine are!
It's yust messing with historical items
Then I have messed up some very important historical pieces, and I am not talking militaria here.
But, you are right in a way ! However restauration technics are teached on the finest schools ....so it must have his importance. Let me tell you also that mostly every museum has his restauration departement, even ou National military museum and thise not only for tanks and airplanes. I have been consulted by the same museum about buckles and medals.
Also I would like to see a very good close-up from the catch of the second PKS
I'll do so asap.
Best regards
Stuk af
ps , talking about historical important pieces, I am getting a "25"PKS !!
To restaure!!

Hi Stuka f
I understand that you love to do this kind of thing, they are a hobby on their own. But also understand that when museums restore items then it's not to make a profit, but to educate the broad public. When collectors start restoring or altering items it's usually ends up in fooling other collectors for a profit. I've seen this happen all to often in the past...
I would not restore the first PKS, it's a nice example that has been denazified but this is part the items history, it would be such a shame to mess with that. The same applies for the second PKS (if it is an original)...
