Would you mind me 'picking your brains' one more time fellas ? Spent quite a bit of time yesterday looking at PAB, it's got quite a glossy finish to it also there is a hard, yellowish, residue on the inner corners of badge (where swaz sits on the turret & the inner corners to the left & right), this is easier to see under magnification, which made me wonder if maybe, a coat of lacquer was applied at the time of production, or maybe sometime during it's life ? Also noticed a tiny circle, on the '11 o'clock ' side of badge, where the final oakleaf touches the eagle (just between the 2 petals), is this a mark made to release the badge when produced ? Have attached some close up shots of the above
Regards Paul
Close up to the left of turret.
Hi Paul, my "Daisy" has the markings on the left of the turret too. Some of the better fakes also have them. As for the other marks you asked about, I don't think they're anything of concern & unfortunately my microscope won't work on this poxy Windows 10. So I can't check mine out to help answer your question. Stewy
Cheers Stewy !
Awesome Daisy.
Paul, sometimes badges with not-so-identical reverse can be the real deal too.
My Daisy has an uneven surface on the reverse that some experts even mistook it for a fake.
All the best.
HOW
Cheers How, really pleased with badge, ticks all boxes, weight 29 grams, width 41.6mm, height 61.0mm, detail under magnification is sharp, the yellow 'crud' in the previous pics, I'm sure is a protective lacquer (shellac ?) added by a collector, way back. Thanks to the appreciative help of the chaps on this forum, I was able to buy this badge.
Regards Paul
