I agree, it is a pretty moot point unless the OP is a maker type collector. Either way, it would fit nicely into most collections.

Yes on all counts.
1) Better photos needed
2) Not important unless type collector and it is an original award
3) The Mayer in the link does have the flat catch. (which is one reason why I linked it and is ALSO why books only get you to a certain point)
But for me, it is an educational learning experience, which is why I kept at it.
I do hope for better photos!

I agree with Ralph, F&R did only solid and semi-hollow Gab, not an hollow variant.
This is an original Shickle/Mayer Gab in zink.
