Is it? I thought it was - it came in with some bits - then I thought not, now I'm convinced it's duff - someone confirm this for me I'm getting old and paranoid
Thanks

It looks like a B.H. Mayer/Schickle to me John.
You can compare with my example here.
B.H. Mayer/O. Schickle "Attributed" Hollow Tombak with Wrap Around Hinge and Flat Wire Catch.
Or wait for fischer to give you his opinion.

Wow, now that's knowing your details. Thank you for sharing Ned.
Hi John
I agree with the others here, this one is a fake.
By itself, it does look like an original and this one has fooled many.
When compared next to a known original, incorrect details are distinctly visible.
Besides the stock details already mentioned, here are a few more;
Head sculpt
Breast feathers
Material between swazy and k98
Kar98k details
Ribbon bow details
Acorn details
Best Regards, fischer
Thank Fisher for the detailed synopsis, funny thing is......I thought it was, the first time I held it, but then I had doubts, but I should always remember.....the first reaction is usually the right reaction 😆🔫😍
