ive owned this badge for a few years now and ive always had my doubts that its original i would like your thoughts on it it looks to be bronze and has a maker stamp JFS did they ever make clasps integral to the badge ? if bad hopefully i can learn from your knowledge for any future purchases thanks james

Hello James,
Due to the pitting on the obverse and reverse, the lack of detail to the berry band as well as the hinge construction, I believe that this is a cast copy. Hope I am wrong but I do not think so.

Out of curiosity, can you bend it with finger pressure?

adrian it does seem quite soft almost like yuri gella has been handling it ,can i ask why you ask thanks james

Because it looks like it's cast in a soft lead based alloy which should bend under finger pressure. Any badge that bends easily will be fake. Genuine TR awards will not bend under slight finger pressure.

Disclaimer - don't go to militaria shows and start trying to bend badges with huge force! Slight finger pressure should tell you if it will bend!
