I'm not very well up on the combat badges and the minor differences between them, can someone explain the '4 vein variant' please? I'm guessing it's a leaf feature but which one and why?

BooBoo is correct, there are 4 and 5 vein variants of the ShuCo / ShuCo design badges. There are twelve different examples of the ShuCo mm and the so called ShuCo design unmarked badges.

These range from massive marked, massive unmarked, zinc, steel and mm hollows including the crimped in hardware examples as well.

ShuCo along with FZS and FLL is a variant collectors dream!

Here is IMO a rather rare bird...A bronze steel hollow 5 vein ShuCo

Great badge Fischer, cannot recall ever seeing one before. I have just ordered 2 ShuCo badges for my collection. Both are massive unmarked one in bronze and one in silver. I'll post them once they arrive.

Congrats on your two new ShuCo Design IAB's.

Both appear to be 4 vein unmarked variants. The one with the round catch plate is not often seen with the other being the more common of the two.

Nice badges Fischer especially the silver one. I cannot for the life of me find one in as good condition as yours for reasonable money. Yeah, you are right about the round catch varient, not often seen so I snapped it up.
