I'm not sure what happened to the second lot of images that I uploaded so here we are. Two of the first badge and two of a second unmarked badge.

I have been trying to find out more about field repairs (via the web, etc), and it seems that these occurred with some frequency. I would love to see any period repaired awards (crude or otherwise!) that other members have...
I imagine that any solider in the field who wanted to proudly display his awards would try to mend any breakages asap, rather than wait (perhaps indefintiely) to take it home to a jeweller - after all, no-one sees how crude the back is once it's pinned on a tunic.
