    Hello Everyone:

Believe it or not, This is my first Infanterie Sturmabzeichen... I have no idea why it took me this long to get one.
I went on a dry spell with buying for awhile and didn't really notice I didn't have one.

It's Walter and Henlein. How does it look?

    Thanks!

I believe you will find that W.H. stands for William Hobacher.
Mine has been posted here with some discussion about the different set ups.

    Hello Cody

As the link that Ralph posted states, the maker mark W.H. stands for Wilhelm Hobacher and your's is the sheet metal hinge set up.
The Hobacher variant is part of the Vienna Design family of ISA's and shares it's obverse concept with other makers from the Vienna area.

From your pics, your badge looks all original albeit a somewhat worn example.

    Best Regards, fischer

PS> Ralph is also correct...you cannot just stop with just one...

IABs were never awarded in gold Phil, that is just the color that the finish has taken on.

Thanks Ralph.I thought there would have been a Gold, Silver, Bronze award like the rest of these awards.
So just silver and bronze for these? Thanks again Ralph! It must be obvious of my little knowledge on these. So his silver just took on a gold hue with age and patina?

    Hello Phil,
the two types of Infantry Assault badges that were awarded were the SILVER class which was not a grade but was awarded to Infantry as we know them. i.e. the poor PBI who walked everywhere or got a lift in a truck if they were lucky.
The BRONZE class were awarded to Panzer Grenadiers or armoured infantry.
    All the best
    Doug
