This is certainly an interesting one Willem.
I don’t think it is an aged fake but he has had some work done. There is a massive amount of zinc pest that has been cleaned up both front and rear and imo that is the reason for the discolouration

If you take a look at the legs of your example there is little evidence of any scales. Now if the badge had the waffle crimp it would be believable.

It’s certainly a first for me

Marked F & BL somehow I did not come across in the trenches on the positions , and I raised a lot of them enough. I agree with the comrades on this point. Here's my digger from the forest.All were minted from a thick sheet of zinc . Solid, zinc, weight-34.8 grams.
