A SHuCo massive variant IMO. Stewy

Stewy, Thanks for the input. I have three examples including one marked ShuCo which is exactly the same as this one. NH

Does the catch open to the left Nige? A typical SHuCo trait, but not exclusively so. Stewy

Yes! Opens to the left. I thought that was odd but apparently not! NH

SHuCo seem to have more left hand openers than any other maker. Stewy

    Hi Neil

I agree with Stewy, this example is an unmarked ShuCo Design Infanterie Sturmabzeichen.

The ShuCo examples (marked and unmarked) are all very similar in composition.
But, if you post your maker marked ShuCo, you will see there are vein pattern differences in the 4L wreath leaf position between the two.
This variation shows us that different obverse dies were in use to manufacture these solid examples.

And, it's these differences that leaves open the possibility that someone other than ShuCo could have made these unmarked examples.

    Best Regards, fischer

Fischer, Thanks so much for your feedback. As you can imagine, I'm pleased to know the awards I purchased in the 1970s when I was a teen are authentic. I will post other items including a second ShuCo ISA and an AFRIKA cuff award. NH
