    Hi Chuck,

    As always, good straight on shots of the front and back are the best images to post and in natural light as the last few are.

    In this instance the photos are good enough to identify this as a Floch made fake KVK. It bears all the features I associate with these fakes from the makers mark to the hinge, pin and catch to the trimming outline.

    Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

    You will note a useful identifying feature on these Floch KVKs without the swords as demonstrated below.

    There are four areas of the edge of the wreath you can see from the reverse which lie between the arms. Three of these edges have a distinct wavy outline as they follow the outline of the oakleaves. The other one is completely smooth as you can see highlighted on the photo. This is a feature of these fakes and when coupled with the things I mention above, makes them easy to spot.

    great now i have to make it back down to the dealer to try for a refund , total buzzkill ,, crap

    I know the feeling. My dealer retired after I found mine to be a fake.........

    Johannes Floch is the name of the faker who produces these items. There are many references to him in this section of the forum as his products have fooled many over the years.

    Try a search for 'Floch'.

    man that guy is a complete jerk! id like to meet ol floch in a dark alley ,, then that problem would be solved for us collectors.
    id love to give em the ol chopper read treatment.,,,,,,,
    did u guys like the spange i had posted? i need an estimated value on er...........
