"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
Originally a brass alloy high in copper content, with a zinc element and a small amount of either lead, tin or arsenic dependant on the qualities desired. It was known as 'Tombak'. try Googling it.
As the war progressed, the material changed to lessening qualities of zinc alloy, as tombak or rather it's constituent base metals/elements were required for more important war materials. That's a basic synopsis, not specific.

Both crosses are good and they are both tombak, Ned did a nice little write-up on what tombak is.

thank you for help!
I find the search function to be quite useful in answering questions such as maker, there may even be a sticky on the topic.
