Kriegsverdienstmedaille with patterned suspension ring.

Hi guys I felt i should post this to hear what your thoughts are on this one. Out of all the hundreds of medals I have looked at I don’t recall ever seeing one with a pattern on the suspension ring. It is only on one side and has no makers mark a per usual.
Any thoughts or other examples are welcome.

I can see no explanation for it but I like it.

It's just on one side of the ring, the reverse side. It's obviously meant to be there as the pattern is complete, not broken. All six 'patterns' fit neatly into the ring.

No ideas from me, just 'one of those things' that will never be explained. Thanks for posting it though, an interesting piece.

Thanks for the replies.
I wasn’t sure if this was unusual or not, but it must be if you guys haven’t seen this kinda thing before either. It has to be factory made.
There is always the chance that the ring has been changed at some time in its life. We will never know!
I thought you may find it different which is why I posted it.
Here’s a picture of it with two other rings for future reference.
