KVK vs. EK
Would someone care to explain the difference between a KVK medal and an Iron Cross. I know both are War Merit type medals and the Iron Cross is more distinguished, but what are some other differences. Also, I know the difference between the KVK w/ Swords and without.

Re: KVK vs. EK
I don't have a KVK w/o swords. They were awarded to non millitary personnel. Stewy S

Here's a KVK with swords & an EK2. Or do you mean what were each awarded for? Stewy S
Sorry I should have been more specific. My bad. I know what they look like, why was one awarded over the other, because both require one or more acts of bravery above and beyond the call of duty.

Re: KVK vs. EK
A quick answer to your question:
KVK w/o swords was awarded to civilian personnel for furtherance in the war effort not directly involved in military operations.
KVK w/s was awarded to military personnel for bravery not necessarily in the face of the enemy

Re: KVK vs. EK
EK's were awarded for acts of bravery in the face of the enemy.
EK2's a single act,EK1's for multiple. The criteria differs between the services. Eg. tonnage sunk for K/Marines,kills/shot down for L/W. Hope that helps a bit. Stewy S

Also, I would like to thank everyone who's helped me. I've learned more in the last few weeks than in the last 6 months or so. You guys are great.
