Congrats. A nice tombak example. Is the ring marked?

Thanks, I don't know if it's marked, the seller didn't mention anything so I guess not. It will be a surprice when I open the package.
Excuse my ignorance, but what details determines it's a Tombak? (just interested to learn).
Thanks// Al
You can tell by the texture of the metal and the remaining finish. Most of the zinc ones have lost their color by now.
Here are 2 nice examples from my collection.
You can tell the difference immediately.

Awards made of Tombak are usually in better condition and more desired. Very nice cross you won. And I agree, these crosses are very well priced and, I think, under appreciated.
Thanks for your info guys and glad you like it! What numbers should it be marked with if it is a Tombak?
A nice cross for a reasonable price.
As said, an earlier piece in the higher quality tombak material. There may not be a mark on it if it is an earlier produced piece as markings were only introduced in 1942 if memory serves me correctly although this isn't a hard and fast rule and it is perfectly acceptable to find marked tombak pieces.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Very nice cross indeed and fairly cheap.
