Original Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2.Klasse

Article about: Can you help me to find out is this original? Is everything on it original? I noticed that the ring is a bit more focused on the one side.

Would be interesting to see a big close up of the ring attachment to the medal, as this part looks more shiney than the rest. The medal looks fine apart from this offset ring, but I've never seen a wonky KVK before, so has it been broken and badly replaced or is it a bad un?

I think it is all fine (the award). Just a Monday/Friday mistake. I see no excess solder indicating it has been repaired.

The ribbon I can't be sure of but my gut tells me it is fine.

After doing some checking, I suspect the ring has been replaced as well.
I see no signs of repair to the medal itself.
I have a tombak example as well as a zinc one. The ring on the zinc one appears to be smaller than the one on the tombak. Both, still, appear larger than the one posted here.

For me this is a 100% intact cross, no repairs/replacements at all.

Its a Gablonz area made cross due to the specific design of the wreath and the "1939" date.

    Hey!
It is a Gottlieb Friedrich & Sohn Pforzheim cross ”64”, look at my to compare with.

I would not buy this cross difficult to sell in the future with such an error.

    Best regards

I'm curious to know how you could be so specific in id the unmarked cross that started this thread based on the blurry images?

    Hello Jonas!
To begin with, there is only one manufacturer that has this look and it is Gottlieb Friedrich Keck & Sohn as I have seen that has been marked.

As a side note, I can say that in M. Falk's book he has also listed a Frank & Reif cross with this design, the cross is unmarked so how he has come to this conclusion I do not know.

So to the question, I have compared this cross with a cross from my collection that I consider to be a Gottlieb Friedrich & Sohn cross. See pictures below.

    Best regards
    Martin
