Hi, Guards badge is ww2 vintage, Post ww2 they had a line of tassels on the bottom edge of the flag. From what I understand just serving with a Guards unit did not automatically entitle you to the Guards badge you also had to show dynamism, political zeal and good comradeship throughout training orfor deeds that did not warrant a medal.

Your Guards Badge is an original wartime piece. It's actually one of the slightly more uncommon variations.

As far as I know, every member of a guards unit received the badge (if a division or brigade was granted the title, every subordinate unit and their men were also elevated to guards status; in formations that were granted the guards status (corps and armies) only the command and staff officers received the badge).

    Thanks for the reponses, all!

Do you think my tank driver would have worn a badge like this?

If anyone knows where I can get a screw back for it, please let me know!

    Thanks, Ade!

As both the Guards badge and ORS came from the same vendor... I guess there is a small chance that they come from the same vet grouping!

Yes, he would have worn such a badge.

There is indeed a very small chance that they both belonged to the same vet... It happened to me with this group for example: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/order...avelyev-23282/
All three awards came from the same seller, but only after researching them did I find out that they had belonged to the same person. A great surprise.
