    Serving as deputy chief of the Smersh Counterintelligence Section of the 110th Tank Brigade and the 18th Tank Corps and as Assistant Chief of the corps’s Smersh Counterintelligence Section comrade Nedobezhkin took an active part in exposing German spies, traitors to the motherland, and other counterrevolutionary elements. Participating in combat operations during the fighting with the German occupiers on the Voronezh and Southwestern Front he proved himself to be a dedicated son of our motherland and the Party of Lenin and Stalin.

    Comrade Nedobezhkin deserves the Order of the Red Star.

    As Auke pointed out to me, it is a pity more of his activities in the NKVD are not documented in his service record, and I suspect further, for very good reason. It is also noteworthy that the rough translation of the acronym SMERSH is literally "death to spies".
