Hi all. Picked this up recently and I have been trying to research it. Assuming it is original (I have not made my mind up yet) from what I have read the number could make it a "Real" as opposed to a "Long Service" award from 1944/45. As I said I am on the fence about originality so any comments regarding this would be appreciated. Cheers.

In my eyes it is an original Moscow Mint star, probably awarded in late 1944. Research will give a definite answer about award date.

Many thanks for the input Marcel. It is not in the best condition (wear to centre and slight enamel damage on the top arm of the star) but for the price, if it is indeed original, then I am happy with it. Looks like two items I will have to get in touch with Auke about

I always prefer those medals and orders in worn condition. Gives them character

NOTE, if you got this with the other group of medals you posted, the timing is odd, but not 'definitive'.
So if the red-star goes with the grouping and IF it is for long service, where is the Red Banner for 20 years? which should have been awarded in the early 1950s, but instead he/she has a post 57 20 years service award?

Of course this red star could be for something else or to someone else.

The groups each came from two separate sellers and the Red Star was from a separate seller again so it would be highly unlikely that they are related. Each items stands alone.

Makes sense, it is in all likelyhood a long service but would have been WAY off in terms of timing that would have been very weird.
