Re: Red Star and other hardware
The Order of the Patriotic War appears to be a 1985 Jubilee issue of the award in 2nd Class, sadly unresearchable, however, did you obtain the Order Book that came with it? These were awarded in both 1st and 2nd Class to living veterans in the year of the 40th Anniversary of the end of World War II. The Red Star is, most probably, period awarded, I am guessing on or about June, 1945. As such, it is certainly worth looking into for research purposes. Yours is a tasteful, esthetic presentation, by the way.

Thanks for valuable info and for the kind words.
Alas no order book. Both USSR decorations were found as is.
The Order of the Red Star has a Monetny Dvor mint mark. Flared Edges. No screwpost base.
Serial numbers 529486-3831218.

Re: Red Star and other hardware
Nice display, but be extremely careful with those awards around those blades. I would hate for you to drop one on a sword and chip the enamel!

Re: Red Star and other hardware
Indeed.
Especially as these decorations are in very good shape.
I have seen several of the Red Stars with chipped stars.

Re: Red Star and other hardware
You aren't the only one, one of mine was dropped by a friend on a tile floor and it took out a small section on the tip of one of the stars. I was surprised at how heartbroken I was for the rest of the day.
