Default Bronze Nahkampfspange F&BL, recent aquisition

I recently purchased this and it appears to be a first pattern F&BL. It has the small die flaw on the back near the F&BL Mark and other features particular to this maker (Per Durante's Book). The finish appears to have faded to gray on the obverse, to retain a goldish tone only on the very right (could definitely fool a novice into thinking its gold). The reverse appears to have had no finish and is of a tone you would expect from a CCC. I see nothing wrong with this Nahkampfspange.
It also appears to have decent finish remaining from these photos.

I agree and from these pics the finish does look really good.

The NKS is one of my favourite TR awards and I can see how easy it is to specialise in these alone given the aesthetics of the design and the award criteria it is a very special award.

I have three (two bronze and one silver) and I have to try quite hard to resist adding more when I see them! Maybe one day I will add a gold grade but it would need to be the presentation version to really force my hand (that and a lottery win!!).

Thanks for showing a nice example.

About 20 years ago, long before I started collecting TR memorabilia, I read about the exploits of Willi Rogmann in the book "Our Backs to Berlin". His combat testimony was so intense, it was almost hard to believe, but the author listed the awards Rogmann had received for his combat exploits including the German Cross in Gold and the Close Combat Clasp. Since then I always felt that the Close Combat Clasp was something special. I have been fortunate enough to gather this small collection of them. The Silver Clasp in the middle being the prized piece.Bronze Nahkampfspange F&BL, recent aquisition

Very nice group of badges you have there.
I have a copy of that book in the library I am building to enjoy when I retire and have the time to read as much as I would like so it is one on my shelf that I haven't yet read but am sure I will enjoy!

Just a small point; "FEC WE Peekhaus Berlin" refers to the designer of the badge rather than the actual manufacturer. "FEC" is short for "FECIT or "He made it" in Latin but "He made it" in this context really means "Designed by" ie he made the design. The makers mark would be on the right side when viewing the reverse and in many case is just initials.
At first glance at these pic I am not well enoughed versed to identify the maker but if you have a copy of "Durante" you should be able to work it out.
Based on the pic which is oblique and not really clear enough I might guess at unmarked AGMuK which was a "Co-Operative" but as I say the pic isn't really good enough.

    Thanks for showing.

Good Catch on the labeling. Those two mislabeled ones were acquired when I first started collecting, and didn't have as much understanding. Those, along with labels on some other items, are definitely on my to-do list for reprinting correct ones.

As for Backs to Berlin, some of the first hand accounts in there are priceless, you will definitely enjoy that book.
