Crikey....Don't take this the wrong way old chap, but I think you've been more than a little over zealous with the elbow grease compared to the original condition shown here, which was pretty severe to start with.

I agree but I only used Vaseline I do not know what the grade is and it is a nice medal even in this condition.

thanks for your replies bronze it is then, I prefer well worn items that have been there and seen it to the mint ones most likely kept in a draw.
