Hi Guys,
I got a very nice Close Combat Clasp in silver other day. Just wondering weather they made or have you seen the clasps in a cloth version for all three grades.

I've never seen the Nahkampfspange in cloth!!!

I have never seen one and strongly doubt their existence except in fantasy land.

Can't say that I've ever seen one either, although, I am always surprised at the number of different badges that Were awarded in cloth. They could well exist as a late war issue?

"Much that once was, is lost. For none now live who remember it."
Never even heard about them as a rumour.
In his book 'The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II', author Tom Durante refers to such a cloth clasp on page 307 by saying "A cloth version of the CCC was never authorized nor has any period photograph surfaced with such a badge in wear. Although a practical substitute for a bulky, metal badge worn by a weary front line combat soldier, this item is most likely a privately made piece." There is a photograph of an example above the text. But having seen 3 photo's myself of varied alledged original CCC's in cloth, non have resembled each other and the lack of a pic from the OP of this thread doesn't really help does it?
Anyway, not exactly ruled out as possibly genuine by the go to guy on these particular awards, but certainly not confirmed proven either. Perhaps a picture of the OP's purchase would add something to this otherwise redundant thread??

Dear Ned,
Thanks for the info, I thought that would be the case but you don't know unless you ask.
