Re: 'Deutschland Erwache' badge: Is this real?
When you all say Post War, does anyone know when these surfaced? I mean to say they may have been made commercially by ( or for ) a right wing movement later on rather than to confound us collectors with an obscure lapel badge.
I can see how a "Germany wake up" pin would be of use to many of the National Socialist movements of the 70's........

Re: 'Deutschland Erwache' badge: Is this real?
Hello Dan
Original Deutschland Erwache badges date from around 1923-1932. There are also original badges saying Deutschland Ist Erwache
from the same period. Fantasy badges saying Deutschland Erwache 1933 originated in the 1970's & can be seen in Nicholas Morigi
"The Regalia Specialist" catalogues from that time. These fakes appear to be of reasonable quality & to have period style hardware.
Nicholas Morigi is still going as a business & are still selling the same reproductions. However the quality is now crap & the badges
have the easily recognisable coffin shaped pin plate.

Oh yes, Carl, if I'm buying on line and have questions I'd post here for help, but this was at a collectors show last week end. I had looked over some of the pics on the party badge thread, and took a chance. I hadn't planned on getting heavy into German militaria, but thought it might be nice to have a couple pieces. I'll stick with British kit and bayonets, I know more about those lol I took a chance and got burned, we live, we learn. I'll do more research for next time, the show comes around again in October Thanks everyone for your help
I just figured out who is in your smiley on your signature lol that's cool
Paul, please don't be put off by this bad badge! This isn't even a Party badge and Party badges are quite safe to collect. Avoid M1/14, 128, 129 until you are more familiar with the general construction and feel of these things. Sailorjerry posted an excellent M1/14 opaque original to study from. Once you have a dozen under your belt, you will spot most of the fakes more easily. I'm still a novice and learning about these things such as period pin attachments. I also am very cautious of badges marked only Ges Gesch, there are good fakes here!

Re: 'Deutschland Erwache' badge: Is this real?
Hello Green
A lot of the pre RZM badges were marked with only Ges Gesch. This is where you really have to know
the variations in period pin hardware to make a decision.

Re: 'Deutschland Erwache' badge: Is this real?
Hello Green
Have a look at Jo Rivett's site Parteiabzeichen.ch. & you will see the number of badges marked Ges Gesch
& the different pin mounting systems that I was speaking of.

I know what you mean, there are some long skinny ones as Wim posted on his Desch badge. Here is another type. Jo's site is fantastic. I don't know as fact, but he may have one of the most extensive collections in the world? Maybe not any longer with his sales. I know I have a few of his badges
