Article about: A nice matching set, from friends collection. I was asked not to show the numbers on the badges. Feedback is welcome.

But not all that bad for fakes either---
What is bad is how many thousands of dollars the guy who bought these is out now.....

Damn right there Erich. The fact that the party number is missing makes me think that suspicions may have been aroused, as they are the biggest giveaway on this particular fake set.

As well, the eagle on the case cover is appalling.
Lack of definition and extremely poor quality
    ink or foil used.

Notice the 'wear' on the flocking too - as if to
show that these have been handled many,
many times over the last 70 years.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

There are so many things wrong with this set and they're not even close to originals. I haven't seen a presentation case that I have liked in all my years of collecting.

any fake is bad and these were self evident for anyone who has ever handled a genuine example.

I see I better be careful about how I phrase my input on here --- relative to most other FAKES these are not bad... this doesn't mean they are particularly "good" either but this was a statement relative to the poor quality of most other fakes. I really thought this would be self evident. I have handled genuine examples and hundreds of regular party badges of all makes and eras so no problem there.

Reading my first post you can probably see my actual reasoning, pointing out issues one by one and that I of course agree --- maybe I should just have said "they're bad" like most others instead of what seems to be considered "waffling on" with relative pros and cons and observations but somehow I don't see the point when a member asks for "input", not very productive.

So you want to let your friend have fakes in his collection without telling him? IMO not so nice!
Come on, tell him. It is better if he finds out.

It would break my heart if I had a fake in my little cabinett, but it is still better to throw them away than living in a fantasy
