The official, "unofficial", Party badge thread.

Article about: Very nice, Sandgroper The circles on the Pfohl badge are interesting and the badge appears to be in fantastic condition. I wonder what caused those circles? Green

Sandgroper, your badges look great and the pic is very good. I like your printed labels for the containers, nicely done. As always, thanks for the flattering compliment regarding my photos!

It appears someone else has taken a liking to the pics also and has borrowed them. I found my badges shown somewhere else and while I don't care that others have the pics, I don't think it's fair for someone to profit from them (if in fact that is what they are doing?) Not that I want their money but my work shouldn't benefit someone else, that's called Socialism, and theft. I have to learn about watermarking or copyrighting or whatever that crap is. Any suggestions welcomed if anyone has some tips to offer.

Here is a badge you don't see often. If I'm correct in saying, it's a tinnie not an NSDAP Party Badge, but looks the part so it'll be posted here.

    M9/312 Mannheim

Now this is a zincer! The paint is tougher than the metal. I may be joking but the metal looks very weakish.

    P.S. Back to you Sandgroper.

Nice one mate, M9, not something you see every day on something like this! Another interesting addition to the thread, well done!

Is that the only badge/maker that doesn't have the M1 coding?

Also, Greenhorn: google watermarking software, I use WinWatermark myself and intend to start watermarking everything from now on as it gives you a lot more control over your own photos of your own collectibles. I've been doing it for years in other parts of collecting and it is indeed effective and very useful as there's always someone that try to take advantage of someone else's work --- something that unfortunately takes away a lot of the fun of sharing with other collectors.

Slados28, yes it's the only non M1 mark for Party badges. BUT.....the M9 example I posted is classed as a tinnie or event badge, not a Party badge. So there is a difference.

Thanks for the Watermarking info. I haven't looked for info on watermarking yet and was hoping it wouldn't come to this point but I'll be damned if some jerk is taking credit for the pics. I'll share them with anyone who wants them for reference purposes but not for use as their own for profit, without the courtesy of asking. The cheap program that came with my camera may do the job, I'll have to try it.

I'm guessing the only real reason for the classification is that M9 signifies another group of RZM regulated products... namely tinnies? Other than that it is, physically, a party badge... right?
Looks like the metal is of lower quality indeed, these badges are strangely telling of the actual rise and fall of the TR/NSDAP.

Any watermarking software will do but the ability to rotate and adjust the transparency of the watermark is nice to have though --- I ended up buying WinWatermark as it's got a good range of options plus a nice and tidy/user friendly interface. The camera software will probably do just fine.

Yes, but this item needs more explaining than to say "it was a mistake". It can though, be supported with facts, and history, and although wrong, is correct. Its complicated and i hope to have the time shortly to share it with you.
Its wrong for sure, but also when we look at who made it, and the time it was made, correct. They are not "that" rare, but they dont come up for sale each day of the week, and because of the wrong number ppl tend to shy away from them. But there is a very logical explanation for the incorrect makings though. As much as i dislike monkey metal badges, i like the last ones made from October 44- , like these, and the ones marked M1/184-M1/185 and M1/186!

Thank you for the info! Look forward to hearing more on this subject when you have got the time.

I've also seen a few of these when browsing for badges but, like you pointed out, I've been apprehensive about going for one due to the M9 "issue"(I'm also more into the enameled ones due to the aesthetics and the volume of varieties to choose from).

Forum friends and fello Party badge loons

Here we have a gorgeous Ges Gesch marked badge with remnants of a blue swas. The obverse has plenty of silverwash, the enamel is perfect, and most of the silver wash is still present on the reverse. Notice the pin is a different style than usually seen and there is a ribbed type pin placement guide. Obviously an earlier badge but look at the gap between L - S. This is a 23mm sized badge, so it's big for earlier badges and it looks great!

Nice badge, Green, the blue swas shows through in the pics. The pin is interesting also, quite an ornamental ridge arround where it is attached to the badge. Great stuff mate, and as always, brilliant photos to show it off.
